Confirmation of Merger

Symphony Healthcare Services is pleased to confirm that the merger of Highbridge Medical Centre and Burnham & Berrow Medical Centre successfully completed on Wednesday 12 November 2025.

The newly combined practice has been renamed Symphony North Healthcare and will continue to run its services from Love Lane, Pepperall Road and Berrow Health Campus.

The combined practice will use the previous Burnham & Berrow Medical Centre phone number ~ 01278 795445. However, the practice wish to assure patients that the previous Highbridge Medical Centre number is being diverted, and this is to ensure that patients who may have saved the number are able to get through to the surgery team. The practice phoneline is open 8.00 – 18.30 (with 8.00-8.30 and 18.00-18.30 for emergency use).

The practice announced as part of recent communications that paper requests for repeat prescriptions would no longer be accepted, and this decision supports the national commitments within the NHS 10 Year Plan. The practice recommends using the NHS App for ordering medication as these requests go straight into the clinical system for a prescriber to review and sign off. However, for those patients that do not have the NHS App, alternative ways to order medication can be found on the practice website or information can be obtained from a member of the practice team.

Dr Michael Gorman, Clinical Lead said: ‘We wish to extend a thank you to the local population of Highbridge, Burnham-on-Sea and the surrounding areas for their engagement throughout the merger process. The Symphony North Healthcare team are looking forward to working alongside patients and other local service providers to continue to improve and sustain high quality general practice services that meets the needs of the locality.’
